A Nice Surprise

Yesterday we got another nice surprise in the postbox. It was… (suspence…)

Serse’s Swiss health card!

What?

Yes! Serse’s Swiss health card!

This is good because: together with the health card comes the uberimportant AHV number, which is a bit like the social security number in the US. Thanks to this number, we can now register Serse in the tax profile of our family, ask for tax deductions plus monthly child allowance etc. It’s also convenient so we will not receive threats have to explain the full story anymore when we go to the pediatrician or to do exams or buy medicines for Serse.

This is weird because: how is it possible that we received health card and AHV number before even getting a valid ID or even just a residence permit for the baby? Well, Swiss mysteries…

We are still waiting for the invitation from the Gemeinde for the residence permit though.
