Today we are excited to announce a NEW SAGA of the AYFKM blog: Mei-Lin has officially started the process for obtaining Italian dual citizenship. With Serse’s story still halfway through, I hope this new addition will delight our dear readers even more!
I will give you the details of how the application for Italian citizenship works another time. The long story short here is that, since Mei-Lin is married to an Italian citizen, and since there are already children born in such marriage, then she has access to a “fast track” procedure, meaning that she can apply after a relatively short time (18 months) from the marriage. That does *not* mean that the elaboration of the request itself is going to be fast.
In any case, the very first thing that is necessary for this to happen is for Mei-Lin to pass an Italian language test through an istitution accredited through the Ministery of Foreign Affairs. According to the info I found, it’s gonna be a “special” B1 level exam, in theory slightly simpler than “regular” B1. Today we registered for the upcoming session. The cost for the application is 275 CHF. Stay tuned!
