AYFKM??? What the gigafuck? There is my and Mei-Lin’s names and parents, plus Serse’s. But NOT Penelope. WHY???
I call, and the news are grim. Remember that, prior to Serse’s birth we were not even eligible for the booklet? Well, the whole procedure was triggered by Serse’s birth in Switzerland. But THE F**CKING GENIUSES did not realize that, you know, MAYBE a family of immigrants carrying with them curses from all over the world MIGHT have other children not born in Switzerland. NEVER MIND that, when we established ourselves in Switzerland, we provided ORIGINAL, TRANSLATED, DOUBLE AUTHENTICATED, PARFUMED AND BLESSED copies of Penelope’s birth certificate to EVERYONE: Swiss ConsulateTrade Office in Taipei, Immigration Office in Zerneve, Gemeinde, Emperor of Switzerland, Santa Klaus, you name it. All these offices do not talk with each other because Federation is great. So, the Zivilstandthing in Zerneve was never aware of Penelope’s existence!
And now, OF COURSE, to have Penelope added to the booklet we have to do the usual drill:
- Request Penelope’s birth certificate (in English) from Taileng
- Have it legalized by a notary
- Have it double-legalized by the MOFA
- Send it to the Swiss
ConsulateTrade Office in Taipei - Wait just too long
- Pay just too much
- Pray
- Spend other 41.fuckyou CHF to request a new Family Booklet, because the current one is OBVIOUSLY BOTCHED. AGAIN.
All this done within 6 months by Mei-Lin’s superbusy family.

There is a glim of hope: remember we need the Family Booklet because the HR from my employer requested it to provide tax deductions and child allowance for Serse. Since Serse *is* on the booklet, and since Penelope was already “settled” long ago, maybe it’s gonna be enough to send to HR the botched booklet for our immediate needs (gosh, I really hope these deductions and allowances are gonna be retroactive otherwise it’s a lot of lost money). We would probably still need to add Penelope, but that becomes less urgent in this case. Let’s see.
